A Personal Health Care Story from a CAHU Member
PLEASE watch this video first, then----let me compare: http://www.freemarketcure.com/brainsurgery.php
July 27, 2008
10:30pm: Janet (my wife) falls down the stairs and suffers a head injury..
11:00pm: Janet undergoes ER exam by a large team of doctors, nurses and technicians at Stanford Medical Center.
11:30pm: Janet completes initial brain scan to check for bleeding. Instead of bleeding, a lesion is discovered—husband in shock.
July 28, 2008:
2:00am: Janet transferred to a holding unit pending testing in the morning. Nurses monitor constantly through the night.
6:00am: Scans, MRI’s, Ultrasounds begin, covering every part of Janet’s body.
1:00pm: Specialists confer to review test results and treatment. Janet has a large tumor that must be removed ASAP.
2:30pm: Dr. Cecil Chang (AWESOME neurosurgeon) asks us (me and my daughter) if we would like to have the surgery done----NOW! Or, schedule it later after we have time to think about it. Well, gulp---duh! NOW, of course!
8:30pm: Dr. Chang emerges after 4 and-a-half hours of surgery and seems pleased. The man must be exhausted but doesn’t show it. He stays to assist the pathologist!
So, let me see,.... this would be about 22 HOURS after Janet fell down the stairs!!! Mika (my daughter) and I say our prayers. We thank GOD for the ASTONISHING HEALTH CARE we experienced!!!
Momentarily, I wonder what care would have been received under a government health plan and shudder at the thought.
9:00pm: At last, we are allowed into the special brain trauma intensive care unit to see Janet. Oh my, what a shock! But, here she is beginning her recovery in the care of an amazing nurse
(a male, in this case). INTENSIVE CARE would be an understatement. The combination of technology and professional care that we witnessed seemed unimaginable!
July 29. 2008
2:00pm: Janet is transferred to a room on a brain trauma unit for three more days during which she shows rapid improvement. Most important, she seems OK!
Before Janet left the hospital, she had been seen by several types of therapist to check her physical and mental capabilities and to plan her rehabilitation program.
Four months later:
Janet returned to part-time work as a-----NURSE, tending to mothers and babies in a maternity unit.
She has had two follow-up scans (negative) and will continue having one every six months for four more years. She is doing WELL!
Oh, yes, we received a bill for $130,000. Blue Cross paid their negotiated amount of $33,000 under our HMO plan. No other bills. No hassles. DONE! THANK YOU BLUE CROSS OF CALIFORNIA. Follow-up care has been paid for without question under our, now Anthem, PPO. And, like the Canadian couple, I would have mortgaged my house and sold everything inside, including my shoes.
Let me ask you: WHICH KIND OF SYSTEM DO YOU WANT?
I have my answer: OVER MY DEAD BODY will I accept the government run or controlled health care that our President and Congressional leaders are attempting to force upon us.
Please help this fight by writing and calling your members of Congress to voice your opposition so that you, some day, don’t find yourself in the predicament faced by the Canadian couple.

http://www.insurance.ca.gov/
NOTICE
TO: Insurance Agents and Brokers, Insurance Adjusters,
Insurers and Other Interested Parties
DATE: August 17, 2009
SUBJECT: Address Change Requests
One of Commissioner Poizner’s strategic initiatives is to have 100 percent paperless interaction with agents, brokers, adjusters, and insurers by 2010.
Consistent with this objective, beginning September 1, 2009, the California Department of Insurance’s (CDI) Producer Licensing Bureau (PLB) will only accept address change requests from its licensees through its free online address change service. Address change requests consist of changes to mailing address, business address, residence address, e-mail address, residence telephone number and business telephone number.
Background
Since February 2006, CDI’s Online Address Change Service has allowed both California resident and non-resident licensees to make address changes at no charge through the CDI Website at http://www.insurance.ca.gov/0200-industry/0010-producer-online-services/0400-change-address/ The online address change service is easy to use and immediately updates the licensee’s records.
Exceptions
When moving from one state to another state, CDI must verify that the license information is valid. Therefore, the online service is unable to process such physical address changes.
Consequently, licensees moving from one state to another state will still need to submit their mailing, business, and residence address changes to CDI by a letter, fax, or e-mail using the Change of Address, Form LIC 447-7 at http://www.insurance.ca.gov/0200-industry/0040-seek-producer-forms/0100-broker-agents/upload/LIC4477AddChg.pdf
If you have any questions regarding this notice, please e-mail the Producer Licensing Bureau at https://interactive.web.insurance.ca.gov/pli/servlet/InformationRequest or call the CDI's Producer Licensing Bureau at (800) 967-9331 or (916) 322-3555. Please be sure to include your name, telephone number, license number and e-mail address in all correspondence with the CDI.
